"As a recent dot-com casualty, I was dealing with many things: The loss of a job, the loss of my self-esteem due to losing my job, and a loss of passion for the work that I did. I connected with HDJ early on in my job search, but we were having some problems unearthing anything worthy of pursuing in the somewhat bleak job market which was a result of the decline of the Internet era. I had registered with no less than twelve employment agencies, and LITERALLY, the only time my phone rung regarding a job was when it was a call from HDJ. She and I talked so much over six months that I began to regard her as not just a resource to find a job, but a friend, and when she called it was always with something promising (and who always calls you with only good news?!).
She knew my background as well as I did, and cared about placing me not just in a job, but in the right job. Right as my unemployment was about to run out and I was desperate to do just about ANYTHING to make ends meet, she called me, and said, "You HAVE to talk to this woman. There's a position being created at the University of Pittsburgh, and you're perfect for it, and if we get you in there NOW, I'm sure you'll get the position." I had two interviews the following week, I was the only person interviewed, and was basically assured I had the job (although the hiring process at Pitt is rather lengthy and it took a few weeks to actually get me officially hired, I knew I had the job almost immediately). Not only did I end up in a position that most certainly WAS perfect for me, I ended up in a position which used my background and skills, but was not in the same industry I was previously in, the industry for which I had lost my passion.
This is exactly what I had asked of HDJ -- to find something new, something different, which I was qualified for and wouldn't have to start at the bottom, but that was headed in a different direction, in a different industry. Not only did she deliver, but instead of having to take a pay cut, which I anticipated having to do in the current stagnant job market, I ended up with a small pay RAISE. I can't even communicate how pleased I am with HDJ, there efforts, and my new job.
As far as I'm concerned, HDJ & Associates is the ONLY employment agency in town I know. I registered with eleven others, and they never so much as called me. HDJ followed through, stuck with me for SEVEN MONTHS, and is the sole reason I'm working in a great job right now."
